Bakersfield Christmas Parade "A Magical Christmas" includes some
90 entries on the streets of downtown Bakersfield with Christmas
themed floats, light displays, marching bands, drill teams,
horse drawn carriages, community groups, classic vehicles, and
live performances by local youths. What used to be just a great
parade has now become a destination of fun and an afternoon and
evening of fun for all!

CHULA VISTA - Starlight Parade. 49th Annual Chula Vista Starlight Parade presented by the Third Avenue Village Association on Third Avenue between H and E Streets is the largest nighttime parade in the South County, with over 5000 participants each year. Special features will include carolers, decorated floats,
marching bands, and Santa Claus! This year's parade theme is "A Storybook Holiday".
Other events on Saturday, December 4, will include: the Children’s Holiday Festival and the Mayor’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in Memorial Park. Also, enjoy the sounds of the strolling holiday carolers before the parade kicks off. 6

GRANADA HILLS - Granada Hills Holiday Parade. The 27th
Annual Granada Hills Holiday parade is a local favorite. At 1:30
p.m. the action launches on Chatsworth Street from Petit Park to
Zelzah Ave. Over 4,000 youth and 150 entries provide great
entertainment in San Fernando Valley's largest parade comprised
of youth participation. Marching bands, drill teams, equestrian
units and decorated float provide the perfect holiday

Sequoia National Park - Christmas Tree Ceremony at 2:30 pm.
Held annually (since 1924) at the base of the General Grant Tree
on the 2nd Sunday of December, this event has celebrated both the holiday season
and two honors given to the General Grant Tree:
- President Coolidge designated it the official
Nation’s Christmas Tree in 1926 (the “National
Christmas Tree” is lit on the Mall in Washington,
D.C.); and
- In 1956, President Dwight Eisenhower
proclaimed the tree the only living National
Shrine.
Each year during the ceremony, park rangers
place a large wreath at the base of this giant sequoia
in memory of men and women who gave their lives
in service to their country. Caroling and readings are
also part of the ceremony.
The event is sponsored by the Sanger Chamber
of Commerce. Parking is limited. Chartered buses

ALTADENA - Christmas Tree Lane (Santa Rosa Avenue, between Woodbury Avenue and Altadena Drive) in Altadena is one of the oldest Christmas lighting spectacles in Southern California. It became a tradition in 1920 when a local named Nash decided to brighten up the holiday with some lights on the quickly growing Deodars that the Woodbury Family, founders of Altadena, planted in 1885. Nearly 135 Deodar Cedar trees are decorated by the Christmas Tree Lane Association in what's known as “Mile of Christmas Trees” (containing 10,000 lights.) The oldest large-scale outdoor Christmas display in the world is a designated California Historical Landmark No. 990 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
